There’s a nice read just fresh off of the Zeldman presses Silence and Noise
"But I’m not the boy making that speech, and creatively of late I’ve been more concerned with design, content, and usability. Web standards are part of the picture, but not its focal point, except when I’m considering the semantics of a site’s content, inventing a new technique, or tricking Internet Explorer into emulating a browser."
That last line is a classic….
[insert shameless plug for FireFox]
There was quite a stir last week over a creative commons copyright issue at unraveled. It brings up a relevant debate over what exactly an individual can copyright..interesting highlites- Jeffrey Zeldman was impersonated in a comment and later posted himself to clear his name. He did not comment on the issue at hand regarding the copyright, which some could deem as avoiding the issue, but I tend to admire Zeldmans stance that he takes on issues, going to A List Apart or zeldman.com is refreshing….as a designer I can get exactly what I came for, a large pool of resources and collective experiences on topics that directly relate to my work, and equally important help me to collaborate with my colleagues on current projects that need current and relevant solutions. Yes drama and commotion can drive visitors to your site, but rock solid experience and applicable solutions will keep people coming long after the drama dies down…
