
Wow, I’m actually embarrassed to say that tonite is the first time I’ve encountered the work of Ernest Pignon-Ernest— at least consciously. It doesn’t happen that often to me but I was met with instant inspiration upon seeing this work. I wish I could find the words to express the feelings I get seeing works of art like this in urban settings. Initially, its like a rush of excitement and a simultaneous feeling of making a discovery, which is then followed by the bewilderment that something so soulful, profoundly emotional, so visceral, is in fact— illegal. Be that as it may, the inspiration continues.

his work is soooo inspiring, i remember seeing 1 once, on a phone box and i was like “WOW, THAT IS SO COOL, and it got me startled at first… it was like a man sitting in the phone box looking, like……. depressing” it’s so not fair that that’s illigal, that way not a lot of people get to see his master pieces…
