103 Mediatemple Spam

tagged_rant | early afternoon

Just an update for the records of my mediatemple experience thus far.

All in all I’ve been quite happy with the move thus far, with the exception of how mediatemple handles spam. they don’t. Well, I should state clearly they do, if you pay them $4.95 a month. Ever since signing up spam has started to fill my inbox, it is not out of hand but I see that it is slowly increasing to an average of 10 emails a day now. I find it hard to believe they are not including spam assassin in their packages.

I do not feel that I should be required to pay for spam protection, and in the last month I’ve withdrawn a number of recommendations to peers because of this issue. If however, they want to fork over the $4.95 a month to pay for it, then more power to them.

$4.95 per month seems ridiculous to me as its over half the price of the monthly $7.95 plan. Anyhoo to each his own… Its the only major downside to their plan for me (apart from the 5 mysql database limit, which should be unlimited).

i totally agree!!! I have several sites on media temple, and I have always been ferocious sales agent for them.. I cant tell you how many times I have recommended their services. I refuse to pay for spam block. Thats bs. I cant recommend them anymore. What a bummer.
